Texas Wins The Texas Mexico Cup!
As players were being introduced at the opening ceremony and greeting each other with gifts, the 260 plus in attendance at the opening ceremony supported each group being introduced with thunderous applauds and shouts of “Go Texas!!!” and “Go Mexico!!!”. At that time I knew something special had been begun…. Texas Mexico Cup.
The stage was set for the weekend and “Oh My” how Texas responded. They showed their dominance in 5 out of the 6 age groups, Mexico Boys 12-13 denied the sweep from Texas and showed why they are the best in their country. There were plenty of close matches that came down to the last hole and ended with a lot of emotion that included cheer, hugs, tears, disappointment, the heavy hearted caddie, relief, everything that comes with a win or a loss from a team event.
But most importantly the best junior golfer in Texas and Mexico and their directors came together for one weekend and learned camaraderie and sportsmanship. All in all, everyone had the time of their junior golf lives!
Thank You Parents and Volunteers, see you in 2008!!
